Edward Street is a busy thoroughfare in the Brisbane central business district, Queensland, Australia. It is a one way street located between Albert Street and Creek Street, and runs from Upper Edward Street to Alice Street.[1]
A number of prominent Brisbane landmarks are situated on Edward Street. The Central Station, the Queen Street Mall, the Metro Arts Theatre and the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens can be accessed from Edward Street.
A number of Brisbane CBD shopping centres have entrances from Edward Street. These include QueensPlaza, Wintergarden, MacArthur Central, ANZAC Square Arcade and Rowes Arcade.

Edward Street is home to Brisbane's luxury fashion brands, with many shopping centres having high-end precincts that front onto Edward St. QueensPlaza's Edward Street frontage has the likes of Louis Vuitton, Montblanc, Tiffany & Co., MaxMara, Bally and Max & Co.. MacArthur Central has Ralph Lauren, L'Occtaine en Provence, Oroton, Rhodes & Beckett and Watches of Switzerland.
Hugo Boss has a two-level flagship BOSS store on the corner of Edward Street and Elizabeth Street. In April 2011, it was announced that the former Dymocks store in the heritage listed MacArthur Chambers would be redeveloped into an Apple Store. The proposal is expected to be approved by the end of May 2011, with the redevelopment complete around September.[2]
In November 2009, the owners of the Wintergarden announced a $A100 million upgrade of the shopping centre. In July 2011, Georg Jensen opened a store in the Edward Street frontage of the Wintergarden, further consolidating Edward Street as the home of international designers in Brisbane. Hermes operate a two-storey flagship on the corner of Edward St and Elizabeth St, diagonally opposite Hugo Boss. It is the first store in Brisbane, and the fifth in Australia. Gucci has also announced plans to open a store on Edward Street, taking a tenancy near Hermes. Canali has opened a boutique opposite Hermes. Prada, Cartier, and Burberry are also interested in opening stores on Edward Street.
On 10 November, Chanel opened a fashion boutique in QueensPlaza, fronting onto the Queen St. Mall. Chanel took the space that was occupied by Witchery, Shades and Fossil. The store is the fifth in Australia and the first in Queensland.[3]. On 16 November, a Chanel Fragrance and Beauty Boutique also opened.
This is all part of a wider push within Brisbane to establish Edward Street as an upmarket international designer boutique destination, rivalling Castlereagh Street in Sydney and Collins Street in Melbourne.
